A few warm days was all it took... Several of my plum tomatoes have started to turn red!
I'm so close to warm tomato sandwiches and bowls of different varieties tossed with balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper... Just the thought makes my mouth water.
Meanwhile, I have been doing very small batches of pickles with the few cucumbers that I picked off the vines.
This evening, I saw small cantaloupes and watermelons hanging from the vines, several feet up the trellis. The corn is at least one or two feet taller than me. It's getting easy to imagine a kitchen full of fresh, organic, homegrown produce.
Maybe later this week, I'll do some sort of cold bean salad with the small number of wax beans that survived the deer.
